CHRISTIAN CHOIR SINGS ANTHEMS AT BLUE JAYS GAME IN SUPPORT OF MILITARY BIBLES

Toronto, ON - May 5, 2009 — A choir comprised of the Grades 5 & 6 classes from the Peoples Christian Academy (PCA) in Toronto, auditioned and was selected to sing the Canadian and American national anthems by the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball organization, at the Rogers Centre, on May18, 2009 (Victoria Day).

As a further benefit, they have also been granted the opportunity to designate a portion of the ticket sales from that game, ($5 from every ticket sold by PCA faculty/staff & students) to a charitable organization of their choice. They have decided to designate the Canadian Bible Society (CBS) as the organization to receive the funds raised, specifically for the distribution of Military Bibles to Canadian Forces personnel.

The distribution of Bibles to Canadian Forces personnel serving at home and abroad is an ongoing Canadian Bible Society project known as "Operation Bible". CBS is very pleased that these students have a desire to support Canada's troops in this way, and they are very grateful for the funds being donated to help provide Military Bibles.

While "Operation Bible" is a joint initiative of the Canadian Bible Society and the Canadian Forces, it is carried out in partnership with the Military Christian Fellowship of Canada (MCF), and with the financial support of interested individuals and organizations. CBS produces the Bibles, MCF handles the actual distribution through their military chaplains, and it is all made possible through the financial contributions of generous donors - like People's Christian Academy.

Ruth McCormick, Vice-Principal, Elementary, at Peoples Christian Academy says, "We are excited to have been chosen to sing at the Rogers Centre. We are delighted that a portion of each ticket sold is going to support our Canadian Military with Bibles. We are thankful for the support of our PCA family through the purchase of tickets, and to date, we have sold approximately 380 tickets."

Emily S. one of the choir members says, "All of the students at PCA are very excited to receive an opportunity to sing at a Blue Jay's game. It's the biggest crowd we have ever sung for and it will be a good experience to show that we are a good school. We feel very blessed to have family members and friends coming to support us, and we hope that the Canadian troops will enjoy their Bibles from us."

Very special thanks to the Peoples Christian Academy for choosing to partner with the Canadian Bible Society in this valuable and effective ministry. This donation is greatly appreciated because it places God's life-giving Word into the waiting hands of Canadian men and women in uniform.
